There are approximately 8.5 billion searches on Google every single day. From the war in Israel and Gaza, to Damar Hamlin to Barbie, Oppenheimer, Matthew Perry, and the Kevin James meme, Google has released its top search history trends for 2023 according to the search engine’s global data from Jan. 1 through Nov. 27.
The top five news stories people googled this year were the war in Israel and Gaza, followed by the Titanic submarine, and hurricanes Hilary, Idalia, and Lee. The top five people googled included Damar Hamlin, Jeremy Renner, Travis Kelce, Tucker Carlson, and Lil Tay, while the top five athletes searched for were also led by Hamlin, followed by Kelce, Brock Purdy, Lamar Jackson, and Jalen Hurts.
The top five trending movies for 2023 were Barbie, Oppenheimer, Sound of Freedom, Everything Everywhere All at Once, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The top five TV shows were The Last of Us, Ginny & Georgia, Queen Charlotte, Daisy Jones…
