Three men still missing off Far North Queensland coast after group failed to return from fishing trip – ABC News

Three men are still missing after a search and rescue operation failed to locate them.

The group of four set off from Clump Point near Mission Beach on Friday, and police said the group reported engine issues on the weekend.

Emergency services were notified on Sunday morning after the men failed to return and an aerial and water search commenced.

Mission Helicopters co-owner Ray Cronin said he and a crew member were able to locate one survivor about 4:30pm on Sunday.

“He was holding onto a reasonably large white buoy,” Mr Cronin said.

Mr Cronin said the helicopter remained in the air around the survivor until other search and rescue personnel could pull him from the water.
