The Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority has asked a third party to audit its cybersecurity systems following an attack that may have seen personal information stolen.

The SLGA said in a news release on Tuesday the audit follows an ongoing investigation into criminals who attacked the organization’s IT systems and potentially gained access to private staff and client information.
Initially the SLGA reported that attack may have affected staff and that it wasn’t aware of any impact to clients. On Tuesday, however, it said that some personal information related to clients may have been accessed.
It said these clients include those who have provided the organization with detailed information to obtain liquor permits, cannabis permits or registrations, gaming registrations or horse racing licenses.
In consultation with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner, SLGA said it “indirectly” notified these regulatory clients.
