Senior executive at Google ‘sacked for harassing two female colleagues’ is suing internet giant – Daily Mail

A former senior executive at Google who was allegedly sacked for harassing two female colleagues at a dinner is suing the internet giant for unfair dismissal after claiming it of rigging its search engine to benefit favoured clients.

Robin Frewer worked for the Silicon Valley firm for 12 years, rising to be Commercial Director at its London-based travel business until he was fired in 2020.

Google says he was sacked for sexually harassing two female colleagues at a dinner.

But Mr Frewer claims he was actually fired for blowing the whistle on ‘anti-competitive’ practices at the company.

In evidence presented to the Employment Appeals Tribunal (EAT), the former executive claimed Google acted to ensure ‘its two main clients received a disproportionate number of hits when people searched for information about holidays’.

As part of his case he alleges he was unfairly sacked ‘on the basis that the dismissal was for the reason, or principal reason, that he had made protected disclosures’.
