Searching ‘Google’ on Bing Now Shows Spoofed Google Homepage – PCMag

Microsoft has changed its Bing search engine results when a user searches for “Google” in a way that could be seen as a misleading trick.

If you aren’t signed into a Microsoft account, searching for Google on Bing no longer leads users directly to a link for Google. Instead, it may take you to a page that mimics Google. At the top of the page, there’s a search bar accompanied by small text beneath it and a doodle-like image. Google often swaps out its name on its homepage for doodles or designs that use red, yellow, green, and blue colors that match its branding, so this could be confused for Google’s homepage.

But if you use that search bar that appears below the doodle, your search results will still be funneled through Bing. Scrolling on the page with the spoofed Google bar reveals the actual Bing search results, however, which start with a link to the real Google search engine.
