Recorders decline to testify about ‘censorship policies’ – Arizona Capitol Times

House Republicans are continuing their inquiry into ways to keep state officials from influencing the removal of social media posts but will be missing 15 guests that were invited to speak.

The House Ad Hoc Committee on Oversight, Accountability and Big Tech is scheduled to meet Oct. 16 for its second hearing to investigate social media conduct by Gov. Katie Hobbs when she previously served as secretary of state.

Rep. Alexander Kolodin, R-Scottsdale, sent a letter to all 15 county recorders in the state on Sept. 11 inviting them to the hearing to speak about how their offices communicate with social media companies like X, formerly called Twitter, and Facebook to “censor or restrict online speech,” although Kolodin expressed skepticism that any of them would show up after he sent the letter.

Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer responded to Kolodin’s invite in a tweet and said his office doesn’t have any censorship policies.
