Privacy-focused search engine’s AI chatbot exits beta – Tech in Asia
DuckDuckGo, US-based privacy-focused search engine, has announced that its AI-generated answers and chatbot have exited beta testing.
The AI responses, first launched in 2023 under the name DuckAssist, now gather information from various online sources instead of exclusively from Wikipedia.
These AI-generated answers will display for select queries in DuckDuckGo’s search results and are intended to provide concise information. Users can modify the frequency of these answers or disable the feature entirely.
Currently, these responses appear about 20% of the time, with plans for gradual increases, according to CEO Gabriel Weinberg.
