ONDC to add four more cities including Chennai, Thrissur, Kannur by end of this week – Times Now
New Delhi: India’s ambitious open e-commerce initiative Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) is currently in a pilot phase in 5 Indian cities ‑ Delhi, Bengaluru, Coimbatore, Bhopal, and Shillong. It went live in the sixth city of Lucknow in June and would soon add at least four more cities including Chennai, Thrissur and Kannur.
Aimed at democratising the fast-growing e-commerce sector in the country, ONDC will start opening up its platform for public use by August. The platform is bringing intercity logistics onto the network which would help buyers from different cities to place orders and scale up fast.
Stating that they may become ten from six, ONDC CEO T Koshy told Economic Times, “By the end of this week, we expect to add at least four cities. Three of these cities are Chennai, Thrissur and Kannur. We are trying to organically build up. We are attempting 75- 100.”
