New tests show Google’s 3D booths beat video meetings – AV Magazine
Google’s Project Starline 3D videoconferencing booths continue to outperform traditional videoconferencing, according to the company’s latest research.
The company has added new preliminary findings to previously published research, looking at conversation dynamics, video meeting fatigue and attentiveness.
In a blog post published last week, Google user researchers Greg Blascovich and Eric Gomez said that Project Starline meeting participants describe their conversations as “more natural” than traditional videoconferencing but have difficult articulating this in a way that capture this experience.
However, in an attempt to quantify this difference, preliminary data from one behaviour lab study shows Project Starline increases rates of turn-taking in conversations. Another study of nonverbal behaviours found that participants in a Project Starline conversation were more animated using more hand gestures, head nods and eyebrow movements.
