New ‘Mavs Vault’ exhibit reconnects the franchise’s 1980s roots to the present – The Dallas Morning News
Rolando Blackman believe it or not is 63 and hasn’t played an NBA game in three decades, but Wednesday night he looked and sounded as if he’d been transported to Reunion Arena in the 1980s.
In a sense, he was, as were the rest of us who were fortunate to step in and experience the “Mavs Vault” exhibit in Fair Park’s Hall of State.
The Mavs Vault opens to the public with Friday’s start of the State Fair and will remain open for the fair’s 24-day duration. For Blackman and many others connected to the Mavericks, this mini-museum is a rare chance to see and relive the franchise’s full 42-season spectrum.
“I’m glad they put this exhibit together because it opens up the mind of wonderment and gives people a chance to dig deeper into what this franchise is all about,” Blackman said. “I feel good that everybody will be able to share in the full Mavs history.”
