Neeva shutting down its ad-free privacy search engine – Coywolf News

Sridhar Ramaswamy, ex-SVP of Ads at Google, and Vivek Raghunathan, ex-VP of Monetization at YouTube, started an ambitious project to build a better, more personalized search experience and convince users to ditch Google Search. In April 2021, Coywolf News published a first look at their new ad-free privacy search engine – still in private beta – called Neeva.

A couple of months later, Neeva was officially launched in late June 2021, but it struggled to gain traction. Even though they aggressively added new features and updates, they weren’t able to convince enough people to pay for their Google Search alternative. Less than two years after their launch, Ramaswamy and Raghunathan had to make the difficult decision to shut down Neeva.
