Jesuit school students to learn coding from class VII – Times of India

Mumbai: Students from seven Jesuit schools in the state will be taught coding from class VII. Jesuit School Education Board Bombay Province, which has under its aegis Campion (Fort), St Mary’s (Mazgaon), St Xavier’s (Fort), St Stanislaus (Bandra) schools, among others, has decided to teach Python language in a simplified manner, as ‘they want their students to think logically and analytically using computer languages’ and also because ‘Google, the best search engine, uses Python for its search algorithm’.
In fact, the board has published a book – The Joy of Python – with help from faculty of Xavier Institute of Engineering (XIE), Mahim. The book was released by Fr Frazer Mascarenhas, former principal of St Xavier’s College, on Monday, to mark the 160th anniversary of St Stanislaus School. “Currently, students from class IX are exposed to computer languages such as Java.
