AI hype has been at a fever pitch for the past year and a half. One of the most exciting has been innovations in AI search, with tools from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Microsoft, X, and Meta providing users with virtual assistants they can use to search the web.
Last week, OpenAI announced a new entry to the AI search market with SearchGPT. “We’re testing SearchGPT, a temporary prototype of new AI search features that give you fast and timely answers with clear and relevant sources,” OpenAI said in a post on X.
The idea is to give users an alternative to Google Search. They can ask questions and receive responses driven by real-time information from the Internet, alongside links to the source, images, and videos.
Initially, SearchGPT will be available for a small group of users and publishers to collect feedback.
