Irish workers are locked in a battle with their bosses over the use of Microsoft software.
Employees are rejecting their companies’ preferred online systems, despite IT department warnings that the alternatives are not part of preferred corporate options.
The latest figures show that the vast majority of users are rejecting Microsoft browser and search engine settings, despite instructions from their companies to use the services citing security, tracking and data flow reasons.
Just 4pc of Irish computers use Microsoft’s Edge web browser, according to new statistics from Statcounter, which measures computer systems that interact with thousands of Irish websites.
Despite large numbers of company IT departments asking workers to use the browser instead of Chrome or Safari, Google and Apple’s share of the computer web browser market stands at 54pc (Chrome) and 32pc (Safari).
Microsoft was previously forced by regulators to separate its web browser from its Windows operating system….
