How to Write Ranking Content in 2023
To rank well and attract users to your website in 2023, you need to make sure that you offer value and something unique to users. If you write content to stuff keywords or sell too much to one specific demographic, your entire digital marketing can suffer.
We’ve been saying for years that you should write for users rather than “for SEO.” Historically avoiding search engine penalties, but always keeping keyword densities, positioning and content lengths in mind.
Now the focus has fully shifted to being for people. It may seem obvious that the human users make the decisions, but we’ve been writing for bots and crawlers for years!
We should probably ditch the idea of writing “for SEO” now, because that’s basically the equivalent of AI-generated content. The term will live on, but it must now mean something different.
So what can you do to ensure your site content performs at its best?
Use the data
It’s a good idea to populate your own datasets from analytics, your CMS, polls, etc. This guarantees that the content and data are yours.
You don’t have to be too specific by saying exact numbers, but you can improve your content by informing users about your retention rates, registrations, percentage of transactions online and many other data points to help create content and help users.
Use quick responses
Longer tail content often wins historically, but if a question has a simple answer, it doesn’t need to be explained.
