Chris Kennett says it takes perseverance and patience to make it as a children’s book author and illustrator, with the Victorian reaching young readers through the growth of the graphic novel format.
Twelve years on from releasing his first book, he has had a very busy year either writing and illustrating more than a dozen children’s books.
This year alone Kennett’s worked on the School of Monster series by Sally Rippin, The Nerd Herd series by Nathan Luff, the Crossbones series with Jack Henseleit, Dad Jokes are the Worst by Adam Wallace and his very own picture book: My Mum.
Kennett told Andrew Hansen on ABC Radio Melbourne that he attributed his success to his work ethic and “a lot of patience” from when he started out in 2021.
