Healthwatch Isle of Wight have just issued this month’s feedback from locals saying, not being able to get dental treatment is resident’s biggest concern.
Healthwatch Isle of WIght is the independent ‘consumer champion’ for health and social care on the Island and keeps a constant eye on how services are provided and what locals need for a good healthcare service here.
They say a lack of access to NHS dentistry is affecting many people: families, children and older people in particular.
People are also still experiencing problems in getting an appointment at their GP practice and short notice closure of
pharmacies are leading to difficulties in getting medication.
The group has met with dental commissioners across Hampshire and the IOW to plan an event in June, bringing together dental providers and commissioners.
They’ve also shared feedback about dentistry with the IOW MP who agreed to write to the Hampshire & IOW Integrated Care leads about access problems on the Island.
