This month marks the fifth year of duty for the Norwegian Bliss cruise ship.
The Bliss, which was constructed at the German shipyard Meyer Werft, set sail for Southampton upon her completion and eventually made its journey across the Atlantic Ocean to New York. The impressive and luxurious boat, which can accommodate up to 4,200 passengers, was unveiled to the American press and notable personalities at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal ceremony before making its inaugural voyage to the West Coast ports of Miami, Los Angeles, and Seattle.
The Bliss, while originally built for Alaskan waters, made history when it ended up being the biggest ship to pass through the Panama Canal. In an official ceremonial event held in Seattle prior to the ship’s first paying passengers boarded, star Elvis Duran gave the Norwegian Bliss its official name.
