Govt: Perpetrator Must Be Highlighted in Major SIM Card Data Leak – Tempo.co English

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The Communications and Informatics Ministry, or Kominfo, has once again highlighted the alleged criminal violation committed by the people behind the massive data leak of SIM card users nationwide.

“It is true that the electronic system providers can be partially blamed, but the [person] who leaked it needs to be highlighted,” said Kominfo director general of application and informatics Semuel Abrijani Pangerapan on September 5.

He insisted that the ministry has cooperated with the National Police Cybercrime Investigation Unit during Monday’s coordination meeting on the alleged data leak.

Regarding the data leak, Semuel said the case included at least two violations, namely administrative violations and criminal violations. However, he argues that the urgency of the criminal offenses, in this case, is never brought under the spotlight.
