Govt Hints at Criminal Offenses in Massive SIM Card Data Leak – Tempo.co English

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The Communications and Informatics Ministry (Kominfo) believed that a criminal violation has occurred in relation to the massive 1.3 billion mobile SIM card data leak, which recently sparked public outrage. The Kominfo announced that it had cooperated with the National Police Cybercrime Investigation Unit (Bareskrim) to investigate the data breach.

Kominfo Director General of Informatics Application Semuel Abrijani Pangerapan, insisted that the security and confidentiality of the data are the responsibility of the cellular network providers, as mentioned under Law No.11/2008 on Information and Electronic Transactions.
