Google LLC sent out the tech equivalent of an “all hands on deck” alarm to its employees on Wednesday in response to a threat posed to its search dominance — the new capabilities of Microsoft Corp.’s Bing.
CNBC reported that Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google and parent corporation Alphabet Inc., sent an email to all employees that asked them to spend two to four hours trying out Bard, the company’s artificial intelligence search tool. In the email, he reportedly said “this will be a long journey for everyone, across the field.”
Pichai reportedly said in his email that Google has thousands of people, both externally and internally, testing Bard’s responses “for quality, safety, and groundedness in real-world information.”
