Google & Bing Head To Dublin’s IETF Event To Improve Crawling & AI Controls – Search Engine Roundtable
Google’s Gary Illyes and John Mueller, along with Bing’s Fabrice Canel and probably other representatives from these search engines spent time in Dublin this week to attend the IETF 121 Dublin meeting with the goal of submitting ideas on how to improve the Robots Exclusion Protocol. This covered improving crawl efficiency, adding new AI controls and more.
Gary Illyes noted these efforts and even mentioned IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) on a Search Off The Record episode earlier this year.
And when I saw John Mueller from Google post on LinkedIn that he was in Dublin this week and then saw Fabrice Canel comment that he was there too, it got me thinking.
They both attended a last minute informal SEO meetup, based on the post and comments.
So what was presented at these IETF event? Well, the description says:
