TAMPA, Fla. — Jason Wetmore was scallop diving when a fast moving vessel ran him over. Wetmore is recovering in a hospital and faces a long recovery.

Wetmore was out with his kids and girlfriend scallop diving when he was hit. This happened on July 6th around 3:45 p.m. northwest of St Martins River in the Crystal River/Homosassa scallop grounds.
Wetmore says he didn’t see the boat until it was right on top of him. He quickly dove but it was too late. The boat struck his legs. At first, he thought he had lost his legs.
