Ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on March 17
Visitors to Dearborn Memorial Park now have two renovated locations to enter the Poway cemetery.
The new motorized front gate entry is the latest improvement the cemetery district’s board has undertaken to beautify and upgrade the final resting place for 6,100 area residents, about an even split between burials and cremations, according to officials.
The original entrance on the north end of the cemetery was also renovated last year.
Among those at the March 17 ribbon cutting were Pomerado Cemetery District Trustees Robert Thomas, James Lyon and Denise Polito; representatives from Grahovac Construction Co., which completed the project; Poway Mayor Steve Vaus and City Councilman Barry Leonard; Poway Bernardo Mortuary representatives and Dearborn Memorial Park employees.
Vaus said he is reminded of the community’s history every time he visits Dearborn.
“It’s like a brand new book cover,” Vaus said when talking about the new main entrance….
