Colombia, which is gaining popularity for remote work, is the latest country to offer a digital nomad visa.
The visa scheme was opened for applications last month. Now, the country wants to emphasize the benefits of moving to the country.
International Living magazine recently ranked Colombia as one of the most affordable places to live in 2023. A Bogata apartment with a 1-bedroom will cost you EUR2,087 for six months. Colombia is located in the same time zone of some eastern US states, making it ideal for those who work during US hours.
“Colombia is thrilled to share with digital nomads the privilege of working from the second most biodiverse country in the world,” Carmen Caballero, President of ProColombia, a ministry of trade, industry and tourism, said in a statement.
“Bogota and Medellin, Cartagena and Cali, as well as other destinations, offer coworking spaces and accommodation with special programs for extended stays. Remote workers will enjoy unforgettable experiences.”
