The tourism sector was undoubtedly one of those hardest hit by the pandemic but the recovery of the industry is well underway, and with travel restrictions to Spain mostly lifted and the summer just around the corner, 74% of holiday rentals are already booked out.

Finding a rental property in Spain for the upcoming high-season is becoming quite a mission and with the increased demand comes inflated prices: the cost of holiday lets across the country has increased by an average of 28% since 2020, with coastal areas attracting the most tourists.

However, compared to hotels, holiday apartments and houses continue to be one of the cheapest travel alternatives for Spaniards and foreign tourists alike.

On average, a holiday rental in Spain costs around 180 euros, according to search engine Holidu, and the most expensive region to book at the moment is the Balearic Islands, at 300 euros, followed by Catalonia at 207 per night.
