OpenAI has confirmed the chat bot’s search engine – which was first rolled out to paid subscribers in October – will now be available to everyone on the free tier, providing they have an account and are logged in. The company announced the news as part of the ’12 Days of OpenAI’ series, along with an “optimized” mobile version of the feature, as well as the ability to search via advanced voice mode. The series has been part of OpenAI’s initiative to make AI technology more accessible and user-friendly.
On mobile, ChatGPT now looks more similar to a traditional search engine, with a list of results appearing alongside images and more details. This redesign follows extensive user feedback and testing, with mobile users now accounting for over 60% of ChatGPT’s total traffic.
