Although airports around the globe were forced to cut back on flight numbers in the wake of COVID, business is beginning to boom once again according to representatives from the Birmingham Airport Authority (BAA).
VP of Communications for the BAA Kim Hunt said that the regrowth since 2020 has been steady with some seasonal fluctuations as holidays tend to be the busiest time of the year.
”We currently have 48 flights a day, compared to 65 flights at our peak before Covid,” said Hunt. “We are confident that the frequency of flights out of bhm [Birmingham Airport] will continue to grow as demand for service continues to increase.”
Hunt continued that BHM air traffic had returned to 90% of what it was in 2019 and said that the airport currently sends flights to all destinations that they had before the pandemic although some destinations may be lower frequency.
