Ancient Tower In Northern Spain To Be Renovated Into A Hotel – Travel Wires
The Basque Government has decided to award the Town Council of Artziniega (Alava) a grant in the amount of 700,000 euros.
This fund will be used to pay for the renovation of the Casa de Cultura and the restoration of the Ortiz de Molinillo y Velasco Tower, both of which will be soon reopened as hotels.
The Artziniega city council requested this funding so that they could complete these renovations to the city’s historic district, which was designated a Cultural Asset with the designation of Monumental Site in 1996.
The Tower was constructed in 1592 and was named after Don Diego Ortiz de Molinillo de Velasco, who served as mayor of the town at the time and was responsible for its construction.
Following its closure in 2016, the efforts that have been undertaken are geared on reviving it as a hotel.
