Missouri was the first state to fully ban abortions, said speakers at the Vitae Foundation’s Don and Ruth Ann Schnieders Annual Pro-Life Luncheon.
But the work is far from over, according to keynote speaker Rachel Campos-Duffy.
“Today, 40 percent of abortions are chemical abortions, which are four times more likely to have complications,” Campos-Duffy told more than 400 people at Tuesday’s luncheon. “The Caring Women’s Clinics, they hand over packs of pills, leaving women and teenagers to handle this gruesome do-it-yourself project alone in their bathrooms.”
Those people supporting Vitae Foundation on the other hand, she said, are the protectors of poor minority women and their children.
A global nonprofit that started out in Jefferson City, Vitae uses messaging to intervene and reach women as they consider abortion. It has invested million of dollars in research to become a “knowledge base” on abortion decision-making. It has established a network of pregnancy help centers across…
