30 complaints in one month: ‘Courier frauds’ on the rise – Times of India

Bhopal: There has been an increase in the number of online frauds on pretext of courier delivery in the state capital, said police. The accused either send messages posing themselves as courier company employees and duped victims on the pretext of processing charges to deliver their package.
In many cases people searched for a courier company customer care number on the internet search and fell in the trap of fraudsters.
Cyber-crime branch has received more than 30 complaints during the past one month in which people were specifically duped by online fraudsters on the pretext of courier delivery. With the rise in online shopping trends, police suspect that the cases may rise. The cyber-crime branch receives 400-500 cyber fraud complaints every month on an average.
