With the cost of living only getting higher, graduates may be stressed about earning enough to make it on their own after college. But depending on their alma mater, they may have a better shot at a higher salary than others.
Job search site Adzuna analyzed over 40,000 resumes between 2019 and 2023, looking at career pathways of recent graduates and jobs they are currently working in five years after graduation. After cross-referencing this with Adzuna’s job market data, the search engine determined the average salary for graduates five years after graduation and ranked colleges accordingly.
However, one’s university doesn’t necessarily define one’s financial fate, underlines James Neave, head of data science at Adzuna. Neave points out that just one Ivy League school made it into the top 10, hinting at a lesser emphasis being placed on “big name” universities during the recruitment and hiring process.
