1 dead after small plane crashes into Ventura County strawberry field – KSBY News

One person has died following a plane crash in Oxnard, authorities say.

It was reported around 8 a.m. Friday in the area of Highway 101 and Del Norte Avenue.

The Ventura County Fire Department says initial reports show the small plane hit a building on the south side of the highway before going down in a field on the north side of the highway.

The California Highway Patrol reported the plane, a Monney single engine, fixed wing aircraft, caught fire.

The crash site is west of Camarillo Airport, where the plane reportedly had taken off.

Firefighters are out with two search and rescue dogs to help locate any more potential victims.
